A few days old article about Kris

Quit worrying about Letang’s trip to the IR

It’s never a good thing when one of your players takes a trip to the injured reserved. Especially, when that player is one of the best players on the team.

But in the Penguins’ case, Kris Letang being placed on the IR is no big deal…kind of.

It looks like Max Pacioretty gave Letang a concussion to go along with the broken nose he gave him when he blind sided him in Montreal a little over a week ago.

With a broken nose, Letang could’ve returned to the lineup whenever he felt ready to do so but since he was also concussed, he now has to be cleared by team docs before he can play.

Letang will miss his fourth game tonight. Pacioretty was suspended for three…justsayin’.

The IR stint doesn’t mean Letang is oging to end up like Sidney Crosby so don’t start coming up with retirement rumors just yet.

With Zbynek Michalek also diagnosed with a concussion, and Deryk Engelland missing the end of the Carolina game with the Dan Bylsma special, a lower-body injury, Letang was sent to the IR to open a roster spot to get some help in the Burgh for the defense that’s doing it’s best imitation of last year’s offense.

Letang’s injury happened on Nov. 26, which is when his trip to the IR became official, and he must serve seven days as a statistic before coming off. Those seven days have come and gone so Letang can be removed as soon as possible. No worries.

Alex Picard is on his way back to the Burgh to rejoinDefense Wilkes/Barre for atleast tonight. Half of the Pens’ blue line now started the year in the AHL. Rob Bortuzzo and Simon Despres are already here and Picard is making his way back aftergetting demoted.

That’s the last thing the Pens need with the Bruins coming to town. Let’s hope Letang’s IR visit is a short one.
